Now, this method here is really how you work to look at progression of your potential clients or customers and actually how they are actually moved through the process of being more and more aware of you. So it starts off here. The first F here is what I call the term is a freeway. If you can imagine this analogy, This is where people have no awareness of either you or they probably feel some pain but don’t realize there’s a solution. And so they’re literally going on there merry, merry way, oblivious to you or the possible solution that’s there for them. It can actually help solve the problem that they have, that you actually have the solution for them. So that’s the freeway. 1:00 Then you have the sidewalk. The sidewalk is really, you brought them from the freeway to the sidewalk. They’ve had that awareness, they are now okay, slowed down. They’re paying attention. They’re consuming material. They’re taking their time at this point. They’re pre-leisure here at this point, saying do I want to learn more about what you have to offer? And they’re consuming information. And then we have the store. Okay, literally is when they’re in the store, they’re in a buyer’s mode. They might be busy trying to learn more information about you, visiting your website, visiting your social media channels, consuming as much information as they can. 2:00 Now, people on these different stages, they’re going to be in for various amounts of time. You wanna get them from the freeway, from a place where they’re completely oblivious to you or the possible solutions available to help solve their problem, to the sidewalk as soon as possible. Get them to slow down so they can start becoming more aware of you. At this point here, you don’t wanna inundate them with a lot of ads and that kind of thing because you’re going to be more annoying than anything. At this point here, you just wanna get that first initial exposure then get them to slow down and stop. 2:30 Once they’ve had that sense of awareness, and they know more about you, they consume some content maybe. They’re aware that maybe there is a solution. This could be done with maybe like a short video, a 60-second video, or a blog post. That brings them to hey, there is an awareness that you have a problem, and there is a solution for it. And that literally takes him to the sidewalk.Because hey, if there’s a solution to my problem, I wanna learn more. 3:00 That’s when they come to the sidewalk where they are really starting to learn more information about the possible solution, more about the solution, and how to get that solution into place. Some of the do-it-yourselfers, at this point, are going to stick on the sidewalk for a while and so they’re going to try to learn more information and try to implement it on their own. And that’s okay. 3:30 And some other people are gonna wanna go to the store right away because they’re tired of their problem, they don’t have time to try to figure things out on their own and they’ll come to you directly. But that’s okay if they’re gonna be on the do-it-yourselfers because eventually, the idea is, you want people who are interested in and helping you by being here for a while, what’s going to happen is they’re going to become more and more aware of the solution, they’ll be more and more aware of you because you’re providing all this information, and you’re actually showing you’re an authority, that you’re actually able to help solve their problem if they’re ready to have you help them. Enterprise social networking is often a facility of enterprise social software (regarded as a primary component of Enterprise 2.0), which is essentially social software used in “enterprise” (business/commercial) contexts. It encompasses modifications to corporate intranets (referred to as social intranets) and other classic software platforms used by large companies to organize their communication, collaboration and other aspects of their intranets. Enterprise social networking is also generally thought to include the use of a standard external social networking service to generate visibility for an enterprise. Many companies are starting to implement social networks to promote collaboration amongst their employees. Vendors are now starting to use this as a way to help out the different companies. Sometimes this might also mean trading documents in real time. Based on research by Gartner (2010), 50% of enterprises will be using some sort of social network by 2012. Companies such as Jive Software and IBM have recently been doing research to see how social networking can impact enterprise networks. Different companies have embraced social networking and they are creating their own internal social networking sites. IBM is one example and they have created the Beehive research project, based on their Lotus Connections product. Another example is Atos, which is deploying its in house blueKiwi product across all 76,000 employees to achieve its Zero Email ambition by the end of 2013. Many companies are encouraging employees to use their social networks so they can connect with other employees, help people socialize when they take a break, or even help contribute to other work-related issues. Some companies are even joining typical social networking sites like Facebook or MySpace to gain more clients, communicate with their clients, or target individuals based on their likes. These companies want to gain the trust of their clients. The year 2009 saw 92% of Inc. 500 companies using at least one social media channel, a dramatic increase over the 77% reported in 2008. Medpedia is one of about 70 medical wikis that allows physicians and researchers to share information. While the information is free and publicly available, contributions are limited to those provided by medical professionals. Intellipedia is a set of three wikis used by the US intelligence community to share information of varying classifications. Deloitte has been a pioneer in its use of the corporate social networking applications for consulting. Boral Limited was one of the first major building and construction materials companies in Australia to adopt Enterprise Social Networking using the Yammer platform. Engagement levels of over 25% were achieved. Other notable uses include Lockheed Martin and Pfizer as documented by the Queensland University of Technology (QUT)….

DrupalCon Vienna 2017: Building social websites with Group and Open Social
A lot of Drupal sites are run by only a handful of people. A few power users receive the rights to administer other user accounts, some others can post and publish content and everyone else can just view content and use the site. Its when this scenario doesnt suit your needs that you might want to have a look at the Group module. Group allows you to give people similar permissions like those above but only for smaller subsections of a website. Say you run a school website and you want students to be able to only see the courses that are available for them to enroll in, but nothing else. Or you want to run a social network where users can post content, but only within their sandboxed area on the website. Groups got you covered. This session will be a brief description of the Group module by its author Kristiaan Van den Eynde (Deeson) and explain its key concepts. We will demo how to configure it and then show you how Group is used in the wonderful Open Social distribution. Joining us for the second part of the presentation, Jochem van Nieuwenhuijsen (GoalGorilla / Open Social) will explain how Group enabled a team of talented developers to build a social network using Drupal 8. He will list some of the challenges and show you some of the cool stuff they built on top of the Group module. Open Social is a distribution for building social communities and intranets. The distribution is positioned as the successor of Drupal Commons, taking full advantage of the new possibilities of Drupal 8. The Open Social distribution comes with some extra group configuration. There are two predefined group types in place: First theres the Open Group type: This group type is configured so it covers the most common use case for your community. Users of your platform may join without any approval, and all content placed within this group is visible for members as well as non-members. Second we added configuration for a Closed Group type. Closed groups is configured so that its content is hidden to users who are not a member of this group. In this instance users can only join by invitation of a Group Manager. We will demo our default configuration of the entire group ecosystem in Open Social, how weve set up both group types, the group roles weve pre-configured and some of the lessons we learned from this. This sessions is suitable for developers with some experience with Drupal 8 site building, but most of the presentation should be easy to digest for even the most junior site builders.
