Can Alternative Social Media Like Gab.ai, Minds, Vid.me beat YouTube, Twitter and Facebook? – Whang!
Free speech and censorship on social media platforms like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter has been an increasingly hot topic for the past year or so. In the wake of this issue, a number of alternative social media sites such as Gab, Minds and Vid.me have popped up, many of them pushing the promise of free speech as their number one selling point. Although I think more competition in social media is a good thing for users in general, and most of these sites aim not be number one, but to merely exist as an alternative, many of their users are convinced that sites like Gab, Minds and Vid.me will one day put Facebook, Twitter and YouTube out of business. In my opinion, it will take a lot more than simply the promise of free speech to accomplish this. When it comes to social media marketing it is important to do it right. Here are 7 things that you may be doing that will cause your social media marketing campaign to fail. If you would like more information on how to be successful with social media marketing please visit, http://www.worldstopseo.com/social-media-marketing.html If you like this video please subscribe to this channel for more great videos! #1: Failing to Target Your Audience There are nearly two billion social media users in the world – you do not need to reach them all. If you cast too wide a net you can miss your target audience. Start by asking a basic question: Who are the people who will help you reach your goals? #2: Consistency is Essential If you use social media for your business, your customers will expect social media updates and new content on a regular basis. When you dont provide customers with those regular updates, customers will take that as a sign that youve lost interest in them. If youre going to rely on a social media marketing campaign, then follow through with it. Set up a regular schedule and stick with it. #3: Choose The Right Platform Not all social media platforms are suitable for all businesses. Pick the right social media platform for your company. While Facebook and Twitter are generally good and useful for almost all businesses, other platforms like Instagram are more suited for other types of businesses, such as those that tend to be picture-oriented. Make yourself an expert at the appropriate social media platform for your business. Trying to keep a presence on all social media platforms will just result in frustration, and will take up too much time. #4: Failing to Be Interesting Social media is about personality – if you fail to show off your brands unique identity and culture, youre not going to engage or attract followers. #5: Too Much Self Promotion Balance is everything. Over-promotion is a great way to turn off followers. Your customers/employees/other stakeholders want to know what you can do for them. You want to highlight your offerings and value proposition. You want to connect followers with the content or services that will provide the most value. #6: Not Having Clear Goals Its important for every business to have goals, and you need to have a goal in mind before starting a social media campaign. What are you hoping to achieve through this marketing strategy? Are you trying to attract new customers? Are you trying to get existing customers to spend more? Whats your timeframe for results? Its also a good idea to re-evaluate your plans and goals on a regular basis. #7: Track Social Media Metrics If you do not track key metrics of your social media efforts, you are wasting time and money. Go beyond how many likes and shares a post generates. Look at click-through rates, mentions, profile visits, and impressions. Doing so enables you to tweak your strategy and really connect with your audience.
