DRIMUX: Dynamic Rumor Influence Minimization with User Experience in Social Networks
2017 – 2018 IEEE Project DRIMUX: Dynamic Rumor Influence Minimization with User Experience in Social Networks Abstract: With the soaring development of large scale online social networks, online information sharing is becoming ubiquitous everyday. Various information is propagating through online social networks including both the positive and negative. In this paper, we focus on the negative information problems such as the online rumors. Rumor blocking is a serious problem in large-scale social networks. Malicious rumors could cause chaos in society and hence need to be blocked as soon as possible after being detected. In this paper, we propose a model of dynamic rumor influence minimization with user experience (DRIMUX). Our goal is to minimize the influence of the rumor (i.e., the number of users that have accepted and sent the rumor) by blocking a certain subset of nodes. A dynamic Ising propagation model considering both the global popularity and individual attraction of the rumor is presented based on realistic scenario. In addition, different from existing problems of influence minimization, we take into account the constraint of user experience utility. Specifically, each node is assigned a tolerance time threshold. If the blocking time of each user exceeds that threshold, the utility of the network will decrease. Under this constraint, we then formulate the problem as a network inference problem with survival theory, and propose solutions based on maximum likelihood principle. Experiments are implemented based on large-scale real world networks and validate the effectiveness of our method.
Top Social Media Sites for Small Business
You know that social media works, but how do you find out what social media sites are the best for your small business? The truth is, there are dozens of different social media networks that can help you to expand your business. However, there are a few that stand out from the rest:
By far the leading competitor of all social media for business websites is Facebook. Whether you conduct a search for your mother, your brother, your teacher, or your best friend, you can almost guarantee that they will have a profile on this website. In the last two years, Facebook has skyrocketed in popularity, making it the most popular social media marketing tool. The sad truth is, if you don’t already have a Facebook business profile, you are already 5 steps behind your competitors. Your target market is already there. Where are you? With Facebook you can easily communicate with customers through public messages, private messages, or even real-time conversations. You can also easily share updated information, photos, videos, and other applications that may spark the interest of potential clients. See how I use Facebook to spread the word about my business and build a fan base. You might also like my page while you are there.
Another of the leading social media sites for small business and definitely my favorite one is Twitter. While not quite as popular as Facebook, Twitter still ranks among the top social media sites with over 200 million worldwide users. Twitter’s entire concept can be summed up in one question, “What are you doing?” Once a business profile has been created, the owner consistently updates the answer to this question, providing potential customers with information and insights into the business as they go. Like Facebook, Twitter also allows you to send private and public messages and share links and files such as photos and videos. Connect with me on Twitter and stop by to say “hi” and watch how I use this great tool to grow my business.
Whether it be a music video or a documentary, at one point in time we have all watched a video on YouTube. And because so many people watch videos on YouTube it is a great type of social media for business. The most obvious and effective way to attract customers on YouTube is through paid advertisements. Nevertheless, a lot of business owners are now sharing videos on YouTube to attract attention to their business. Whether it be a walkthrough of a store, a commercial, a video presentation, or answers to a variety of frequently asked questions, YouTube can be a great way to share information with clients in an interesting yet informative way. Subscribe to my YouTube channel to watch videos helping you build and grow your online business strategically.
LinkedIn is another great social media platform you might want to check out. It’s more professional than Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, and it allows you to connect with other like-minded people or even your prospects and clients, share ideas, knowledge, and opportunities. With LinkedIn you can easily create a professional profile, keep in close contact with other professionals, find experts, share information, search for ideas, and explore or offer career opportunities.
If you are a small business owner, it is time to set up a social media account. When it comes to social media for business Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn are among the most popular social media tools today. However, there are many more out there so feel free to explore your options and connect with clients using as many social media tools as you wish. Top 10 Social Media Websites & Apps in 2017 So Far
Top 10 Social Media Websites & Apps; social media has very much become a part of daily existence for many people but which sites are the most popular and why? Find out the biggest social media sites. Here are 10 of the biggest social networks this year and what you should really spend your time posting on them.
Think Time: Teens and Social Networks
Social networking (Facebook, Squidoo etc) is one of the newest ways in which to advertise. Recruiting through social networking sites can perhaps bring you great results in a short space of time, though it can be questionable seeing the amount of companies that are beginning to ban such sites from being accessed via company servers.
That aside, social networking and recruitment can work well together. Why? It could perhaps be the way the sites visitors are young and open to online marketing, and are regular visitors to such sites.
The new Human Resources trend is to advertise jobs on sites like Facebook, simply to enable them to target a good range of potential applicants and this could even take over the job boards for popularity alone.
Benefits of Recruiting through Social Networking
The superior technology alone is good enough reason to hire new employees through social networking sites. An alternative to traditional methods, like recruiting via printed media and even through recruitment websites, the networking sites can allow a business to target their recruitment campaign to various areas.
Cons of Social Network Recruitment
The drawbacks are apparent when you use social networking in the wrong way. Not having a good strategy in the first place can really undermine the work you have put in, with disappointing results. You also need to use the information intelligently since these are not recruitment or business boards, but social.
Top performers, as always, may be difficult to track down so even the most dedicated recruiter might find that efforts may not bring the results they had hoped for. Given the amount of publicity given to social networking sites as sources for recruitment more and more job seekers are creating profiles and hoping to be spotted. Thus the ability to stumble across top talent is balanced by the need to sift through a lot of details on a lot of individuals.
Hopefully when you take up the chance to recruit in this kind of way you will not be swept off your feet by the hype – stay grounded. It is important to know and realise that your campaign still requires lots of input. You should actively be searching profiles for potential candidates as you would in the usual way. However, those candidate searches are made easier by these websites and you are able to contact them directly which cuts out any hassle you might have going via recruitment companies.
Job boards and larger recruitment agency websites may already be doing the work for you. As many companies are getting more involved with today’s trends, you may find that they save you the time researching this new media – for a fee. Make sure this is a question you ask if you are serious about recruiting on Social media.
In the end, you make the decision on what is best for your company. Despite being seen as innovative and modern, recruitment through social networking is just as involved as other advertising media and needs the planning and input that comes with finding that top talent.
